Researcher - Protection Insurance
Permanent | Salary up to £26,500 per annum

The data collected and managed by our research team is used by some of the largest names in the industry to provide instant and unbiased market and competitor intelligence for providers of products, product ratings for them to use in their marketing messages and product feature data for comparison websites.
We currently have an opportunity available for someone to join this team of specialist Researchers. For this particular role, the specified product area is Protection Insurance, which includes products such as life, critical illness and income protection plans. In this context, Providers will be UK banks, pension and life companies and insurers.
This role will be a hybrid working pattern. The team currently work in the Haddenham office 2 days per week.
What you'll be doing
- Researching product information using the internet, industry press and Provider documentation. Contacting Providers by telephone and/or email to verify product information where necessary
- Understanding and interpreting product information, identifying differences from currently held data and updating the database with new information
- Conducting regular data audits to ensure the Defaqto database is accurate and up to date
- Building effective working relationships with Providers to facilitate the acquisition of accurate and up to date information. Attending meetings with Providers, where requested, to communicate how we use their data
- Identifying newsworthy information and communicating to relevant individuals within the company
- Conducting research to support the work of the Insight & Consulting team in delivering publications, ratings and consultancy
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of Defaqto’s products and services and how they can deliver high levels of value to our clients. Understanding how the data collected for the specified product area(s) is typically used within those products and services
- Responding appropriately to customer queries by telephone or email, whether raised directly or through Customer Success
- Liaising with relevant members of the Insight & Consulting, Product Management and Data Management teams regarding the structure of the data for the specified product area(s) and participating in regular reviews of product areas and features to ensure the data collected remains relevant. Assisting with testing changes to the database structure.
What you need to succeed
- Detailed knowledge of the following product areas, including the ability to understand the terms, conditions and benefits offered by these products; life assurance, critical illness insurance, income protection insurance, medical insurance
- Computer literate, with a good knowledge of Word, Excel and email and the aptitude to learn new software applications quickly
- Fast and accurate data entry skills
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines
- Good verbal communication skills, including a good telephone manner and the ability to persuade others
- Good written communication skills
- Professional use of English in the workplace
- Ability to quickly and accurately extract relevant information from complex written documents and think through the implications
